Delete your account

YouLocal · Last updated: 15 August 2026

You can delete your YouLocal account and your personal data at any time — either directly in the app (fastest, immediate) or by sending us a request if you no longer have the app installed. You do not need to reinstall the app to have your data deleted.

Option 1 — Delete in the app (immediate)

  1. Open the YouLocal app.
  2. Go to the Profile tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Read the confirmation, then tap Delete permanently.

Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out. What is deleted cannot be recovered — there is no undo and no grace period.

Deletion runs across several separate storage systems. If one of them fails, the others still complete and the failure is recorded on our side so the job can be finished. A short list of account-linked records is also not yet covered by the automatic purge — see what is not yet automatic below. If you want confirmation that everything was removed, email support@youlocal.app and we will check and reply.

Option 2 — Ask us to delete it

If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email support@youlocal.app with the subject “Account deletion request”, from the email address on your account, or telling us the phone number you signed up with (we use phone-number sign-in, so this is how we identify your account).

We will verify that the request comes from the account holder before deleting anything — this protects you from someone else deleting your data. We respond to deletion requests without undue delay and within one month, as required by the GDPR. If we need more information to verify you, we will ask before that period ends.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes your personal data from these systems:

CategoryExamples
Your account & profile Phone number, name, email, date of birth, nationality and any travel-document details you added, travel preferences, and the preference profile the concierge inferred about you
Your trips Itineraries, saved places, travel spaces, and the trip-companion details you added — including anything you told us about a companion’s needs
Your conversations Your chats with the Yori concierge, and the archived copies of them. (We never receive your voice recordings: dictation is handled by your phone’s own speech recognition — Apple’s or Google’s, under their terms — and only the resulting text reaches us.)
Location data Your current position record, and the visit records created by trip tracking if you had enabled it. Your precise position also expires by itself 48 hours after we last see you, whether or not you delete your account
Notifications Your device push tokens, so we stop contacting you
Linked accounts Any third-party accounts you connected, and their stored credentials
Payment reference The customer reference held with our payment provider, and the customer record on their side
Blocks The people you had blocked, cleared on both sides, so nobody is left permanently blocked by an account that no longer exists
Your sign-in identity The account itself, in our authentication system

What is not yet automatic

We would rather tell you this than have you find it. A small set of records linked to your account is not yet covered by the automatic purge: We are extending the automatic purge to cover all of these. Until then, email support@youlocal.app after deleting your account, and we will remove them by hand and confirm to you that we have.

What may remain after deletion

We do not keep a minimised copy of your account for accounting purposes, and we do not currently retain a long-term record of your deletion request. Both of those would be defensible things to do, and we may add them in future — if we do, this page will say so before we start, and will say exactly what is kept and for how long.

Your other privacy rights

As well as deletion, you can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, ask us to restrict or stop certain processing, or object to profiling. Write to support@youlocal.app. For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.
